The Danish daily Morgenavisen Jyllands-Posten called and asked me to comment on the World Press Photo winner. Their critical article was published online this weekend. And I was very critical towards this year winning picture by Pietro Masturzo. It is without doubt a beautiful image, but for me this picture does not in itself tell a story. It's a picture that could be a part of a series giving space and atmosphere to the rest of teh series. As a single image this picture lacks closeness. It is simply too distant. And it is too difficult to understand. The winning picture need a lot of words for explaining what's it about.
